INSPIRATION: We Are NOT Lucky, We Are Blessed

Hi everyone!

This seems to be my first post for the New Year, though the year is old with the first quarter almost over, it is still new.

So how has the year been so far? Have you been able to stick to your resolutions (for those who made, cos I stopped that tradition for a couple of years now)?

Well here’s a little something to motivate and encourage you as you strive to achieve your set goals and all the best of luck!

Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightening to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself

Chuck Close

only lightening could do this to their head hair. I guess they never got their inspiration

It has even got Obama thinking. He needs waits for no inspiration.

ThrowBackThursday: Twilight

“I’d never given much thought to how I would die. But dying in the place of someone I love seems like a good way to go”

If you guessed from where this statement was made correctly, then you are a true Twilight fan.
Go Twihards!

I feel in love with Twilight the moment I knew Robert Pattinson was starring in the movie, and the love grew when I finally got to watch the film. Too bad my dear brother doesn't understand the feeling as he is not a fan of vampire movies. I can’t even imagine that someone (I’m looking at you brother) wouldn’t want to watch a drama series like Vampire Diaries! It’s ironic cos that use to be me. I wasn’t into vampire movies until I came across Twilight and Vampire Diaries, and got hooked. I remember one night some years ago, when I had nightmares and couldn’t get any sleep because I watched a late night vampire film that was creepy as hell. When the time came for me to sleep, I couldn’t cos I began to feel like I was some kind of new-born vampire (talk about vampires and them not sleeping). Lol.

Did I mention my love for Robert Pattinson? (Go Team Edward!). I just asked that to inform you, lol. The first film I watched him in was “Remember Me”. I loved his personality in the film cos it was one I could relate to. So I wasn’t disappointed when I watched his performance in The Twilight Saga and saw him still bring on some of that personality into Twilight. Of course, I can’t overlook a great story with great directing and overall, a fantastic movie. I mean, it’s hard to do bad when you have a fantastic script and team, right? Stephenie Meyer is bad! She’s a witch! An imaginatively creative genius.

I will not forget the feelings I felt after watching The Twilight Saga. It was like I was in love for the first time. I kid not. I felt love, pain, happiness and sadness. I was almost getting depressed in a strange way (cos it felt like I was heartbroken). I just had all these mixed feelings cos the movie was that good. Thank God for helping me overcome those feelings when I prayed. The last time I could remember having such feelings was when I watched One Tree Hill and The O.C.

Let me just go ahead and share a few of my fav memories and visuals from Twilight.

1.      Edward Cullen (Team Edward)

2.      His walking step

3.      His smile – it’s like he’s smiling and crying at the same time.

4.      His love for Bella Swan – Just give me a man with his personality and put in the God – factor and take away the vampire aspect and I’m good to go.

5.      Alice Cullen’s leg movement whenever she threw the ball in the scene where they played baseball – I don’t mind watching a full 120minute clip of leg going up and down whenever she’s about to throw the ball (No homo!)

Permit me to compare Twilight to Harry Porter here. The wizards in Harry Porter played their kind of witch football game and we also saw the vampires playing their own baseball game. That was just a thought that crossed my mind by the way.

6.      How could I forget their honeymoon – the trip through Rio to Isle Esme. The house on the beach (beautiful house), or the newlywed games and flirtations they shared.  Isabella Marie Swan, you looked beautiful on your wedding day.

7.      Let’s not forget Renesmee’s beautiful face the first time we caught a glimpse of her face as Jake was about to imprint on her.

Those are some of my favourite memories from the film, but if you leave me to it, I would go on and on about the love Edward Cullen had for Bella Swan, but never mind.

I mean no offence but Edward and Bella’s love can be compared to God’s love for us. I know what they had is not even close to a mustard seed- size of the love God has for us, but somewhere in their love, I got an example.
God loves us always and would never leave us until we push Him way. We saw that with Mr and Mrs Cullen and I’m sure if Bella had ordered Edward away, he would have gone. Also, God gives us a choice and a will. He trusts us to make our decisions and He loves us even when we don’t choose right. He knows we are His and no matter how far we stray away, we will still come back to Him and when we do, He is more than willing to take us back. Though Edward was dating Bella, he still let her hang out with Jake even though it killed him. He trusted her and allowed her the freewill to decide. Just like Bella had to die to find everlasting love with Edward, we also must die to the world (sin) in order to find His eternal love and salvation.

Let me put to rest my long and weird TBT essay. I wanted to shorten it to a short post but I knew I wouldn’t express myself well and meaning will be lost.

If you made the read thus far, I say a big thank you for taking the time to read this.

I love you all and remember – Love is the greatest and it conquers all!

STYLE STAR

I’m loving, loving your way.

I’m not trying to sing like Sheyi Shay did, though I did hum a little. There are a lot of things I like; like a lot of the beautiful and fancy clothes beautiful people wear that makes them want to look like celebrities. But not all celebrities impress with their expensive attires. So today I felt like giving the spotlight to a young celeb who, to me gets it right more often than not. She impresses me whenever I see a photo of her and I’ve come to admire her style. She knows how to tease us every now and then with her style. I’m not even going to try to put a name to her style cos that would be limiting, so without much ado, my style star is…….. Drum roll please…….

I Die Again

It’s been awhile somebody’s been up in here! I hope y’all Portable darlings’ ain’t talking to me? Lol….
I give up. I have no explanation what so ever for this but let me show my remorse by sharing with you all (my beautiful people) a little poem a friend of mine (Fola Baba – Onoja) posted on Facebook. It is so lovely I had to share; couldn’t keep it to myself. Find it below and enjoy!

I die again…….

I fear to write not for lack of words
Cos if you know me well that isn’t a problem
But I refuse to scribble some words
For fear that it may be entwined with lies
Often times I write but rarely are they truths
Sometimes I write on love but hate
At other times I write on divine health
While I struggle with sickness
Or is it the times I write about Christ
When I’m so far away from him
But today though I fear I still write
I write it as it is
I write that you may know
Lies have being my daily bread
And I drink with haters
In gossip do I wallow
I am lost in lust and not in God
I live like the Pharisees
Wearing clean robes with scriptures on it
I have the form but not the power
I know the letters but not the script
I sing the songs cos I have to fit
I talk the words but it’s no sword to me
And I wonder what makes me different
When in truths I’m having lots of struggle
Why all the pretense I often ask
So I have come out straight
Cos like Paul I do what I don’t want to do
But then unlike him I don’t die daily
No wonder I am not more than conqueror
I rely on my first death
I think; I died once so it’s enough
But I’m glad it has come clear at last
I must die again and again
I have to give myself away always
And so I get it right this time
And like Paul

I die again……

Dealing With “Urrrrrrg Moments.

When it comes to what I want in a man, I can be very critical. He has to be tall, fair (not dark, cos I know alot of sisters want TDH but not me. I want TFH) and handsome. He also has to have a nice smile, gap or half teeth, good sense of humor and sociable. Okay let me pause right here before you'll think I'm describing Yul Edochie (well there's no denying I had a crush on him)

Though over the years, I have tried to tone this trait down. But I can’t help thinking, ‘can I deal with a man that is so, so unorganized and scattered?’ It just brings out the “Urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrg” in me. Can’t take it! Lol.

Certain situations in my life right now have made me to wonder if God is preparing me to deal with an unorganized man/situation. One of them is my little cousin. She can be adorkable but when it comes to organization and stuff like that, the “Urrrrrrrrrrrrrrg” moment kicks in.  Before I met, I never knew someone could exhibit such before; now I know first-hand. I have tried and tried and tried to reach out but all my efforts have landed in the gutter. Sometimes, I choose to ignore her habits all together so that I wouldn’t be bothered by whatever she does.

Let me tell you a story so you can have a better view of the situation.
There was a day she decided to eat her food in her room, so she took it there. Days later, I was sweeping the house, and I went to her room to sweep it (sweeping her room can be a tug of war for the both of us). Guess what I found smiling at me from underneath her bed? None other than the plate and cup she used to eat the other day (no kidding).

Salome (that’s her name) would not do anything out of her own initiative if she isn’t told, well except of course to eat and take a pee. She can leave broken glass scattered on the floor for someone else to see or probably step on it, and as long as you don’t tell her to gather and park it, don’t count on her to do it. The kitchen can be on fire with her in the know, meanwhile, she’s in the living room watching TV without doing anything or informing someone about it, cos it hasn’t been mentioned to her to put out the fire. Lol! Okay, I was exaggerating there.

She drives me nuts sometimes to the extent of laughter; I mean, what other option do I have cos it is amusing to see someone in such element. Sometimes she does some things that are mind boggling and it leaves you wondering if she must have been high on H2O or something (btw, she loves to drink water like a fish). She’s still my “little Cuz” any day, anytime, and I love her! Some mothers really do have them.

So here’s the question of the day: Can you live with someone who is unorganized and nonchalant? And how have you been able to cope with that person?

As for me, I know how I’ll deal with the situation – pull a Kim Kardashian –and- Kris Humpries – 72 – day- marriage on the situation.

Lol, just kidding! Just so you know, I am anti-divorce and I wouldn’t wish it for even my enemy. But you can sound off in the comments.

No NO!

Happy New Month Darlings!
I probably should be saying “Happy New Year” since it’s my first in the year and for, well, over 3months but I will shy away from saying it cause that will make me a late ******* (Lol). Come to think of it, we all know what this month represents, especially the first day, but I hope none you my darlings were fooled?

So I just wanted to share a few things from a book I’ve been reading recently. I believe we all need a little encouragement every now and then, especially as women so I’m hoping this post will be inspirational to someone. Do have a wonderful year and always remember to be creative with your year, yes, your YEAR!
Read on for excerpts from the book:-

Henry Ward Beecher was a young boy in school when he learned a lesson in self- confidence which he never forgot. He was called upon to recite in front of the class. He had hardly begun when the teacher interrupted with an emphatic, “No!” He started over and again the teacher thundered, “NO!’ Humiliated, Henry sat down
The next boy rose to recite and had just begun when the teacher shouted, “No! This student, however, kept on with the recitation until he completed it. As he sat down, the teacher responded, “Very good!”

Henry was irritated. “I just recited as he did, “he complained to the teacher. But the instructor replied, “It is not enough to know your lesson, you must be sure. When you allowed me to stop you, it meant that you were uncertain. If the entire world says “No!’ it is your business to say, ‘Yes!’ and prove it.”

The world says, “No!” in a thousand ways:
“No! You can’t do that.”
“No! You are wrong.”
“No! You are too old.”
No! You are too young.”
No! You are too weak.”
No! It will never work.”
No! You don’t have an education.”
“No! You don’t have a background.”
“No! You don’t have the money.”
No! It can’t be done.”

And each “No!” you hear has the potential to erode your confidence bit by bit until you quit altogether. You just need to be bold enough to say “Yes!” when the world says, “No!”

The world might even say, “No! You can’t do that, you’re a woman.”  The war between women and Satan got its start in the Garden of Eden and has not stopped. Satan hates women because it was a woman who gave birth to Jesus and it is Jesus who has defeated Satan. However don’t think that just because the devil is against you that success is out of your reach. The devil may be against you, but God is for you and with Him on your side you absolutely can’t lose. You just need to be bold enough to say “Yes!” when the world says, “No!”
